The Importance of the Base

So, base. A four letter word that is unbelievably important in one context. Makeup. Without a strong base you’re gonna sweat, you’re gonna smudge, and you’re not gonna be looking as good as if you had done a strong base. Get it? Good.

I use these three products for my base and, if I do say so myself, I look flawless.

Excuse the nails…

Okay so, first up, the Clarins Beauty Flash Balm. This stuff is amazing, as it says on the tube, it ‘brightens and tightens’ whilst leaving your skin feeling extra smooth and nourished. I personally use this as a moisturiser for my base and I can definitely tell when I don’t wear it. It’s a bit on the pricey side but what isn’t nowadays eh’.

Secondly, you go in with the Body Shop All-in-One Instablur. Now, I don’t know if you’ll remember the absolute hype this product had a couple of years ago, so if you don’t trust me, trust the hype. This is a affordable primer, which completely fills out the pores and leaves your skin feeling amazingly soft. It also reduces some redness and completely changes how the make up goes on – in a good way. This primer is amazing, as is many of the Body Shop products, so go check them out!

Lastly, the finishing touch of the base – it’s the foundation. Or in this case, the Garnier BB cream. This BB cream is the absolute dream, it’s perfect for those casual, or even work days – however sweaty night out, uhhhuh you need coverage for that. This BB cream is extremely light-weight, and consequently, light coverage, but thats perfect for what I’m after during the day. It covers the spots, redness, and it gives an irresistible glow to the skin. It is the perfect finishing touch for the base ritual.

This post is just a few products that work for me personally, a girl with red and kinda oily skin, so you can deffo mix the products up! But you muuuust – moisturise, prime and foundation it!

P.S, it is also vital you regularly clean your brushes, as you don’t want to apply a dirty brush to a full on clean and ready base do you?! No. But good thing for you I’ve discovered the easiest way to do a quick ‘brush blitz‘ 😉 – I’m good to you.
